Who is End Result?

Self-taught singer/songwiter Matt Cluthe is the soul behind End Result. Cluthe has been writing songs for the past 6+ years, playing his gems on a solo basis primarily in Kansas City, MO and Lawrence, KS - both cities that boast a rich musical history. Cluthe's lyrics are insightful, powerful and personal. Writing about his own life and those around him, the stories within them resonate. Currently residing in Houston, Cluthe has joined forces with drummer Mark Ihada and a new bassist. Ihada and the new bassist each bring layers of sounds to these otherwise quiet songs, adding wonderful depth not to be missed. Stop by. You're in for a great show.

I'm a music junkie. Always have been, and probably always will be. Growing up, there was always music in the house. All different kinds. Being the youngest of four opened my eyes to a lot of music that I would have never heard otherwise, good and bad. I started writing when i was about twelve and I started playing music when I was about sixteen in a little high school band. We had one show. We had a blast. A few years later, a friend taught me the basic chords on the guitar, and that was it - I was hooked. I could finally put songs together.

Some of my songs are about myself and my experiences; some about people I know; and some are about a loose thought or idea. I've been playing live now for about seven years. I love it. When I moved down to Houston three years ago, I thought that it would be a lot of fun to form a band. I posted an ad; Mark Ihada responded and that was it. We clicked right away. He's a great drummer and a really down-to-earth guy. We met James about a year ago and added him to the lineup as our lead guitarist. His unique sound and playing style have added depth and led us to develop a more dynamic overall sound. I met Ross about eight months ago and we got to talking about music and the band. Soon after those initial conversations, he joined us in the studio and the rest is history! I'm excited to see where this experience will lead us. Hope you enjoy the music.

Mark Ihada

Mark Ihada is originally from the Phillipines and started his musical career singing with the SMI Shcool Choir. At the age of sixteen he started taking drum lessons at the Yamaha School of Music in Manila. He started playing with some of his high school friends in a rock ensemble that placed a fire in his soul for the music.

At that point in his life, he became impassioned and knew that music was more thn just a hobby. Throughout his college studies he continued to play, forming a locally successful band called Verbal Edge, performing at clubs and college functions around the area. Once Mark completed his degree in computer technology management, he moved with his family to Houston, Texas, where he found a thriving music community and an opportunity to take his playing to the next level.

After Mark connected with singer/songwriter Matt Cluthe, the two decided to form End Result. With the addition of James and Ross, he is more excited about the musical possibilities for the future than ever before.

I'm originally from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Coming from a musical family, I began playing fiddle and guitar at age eight. I spent the latter half of my childhood touring the tri-state area, playing shows and fiddle contests with my dad and older brother. By age eleven, I became burned out on fiddle, and wanted to play a wider variety of music. Thus, guitar was now the only instrument on my mind.

Like most dorky kids, I spent most of my time in my room playing guitar, and to this day I'm known to practice for five straight hours frequently! I began writing songs seriously about eight or nine years ago. My guitar style is self-taught, and I'm very sponge-like. I used to be influenced heavily by guitarists, or bands that I was into. But for the last few years, I've just been keeping my ears open.

I think that the best musicians have their own unique style, regardless of their influences. That, along with a competant level of musicianship, is what I look for in musicians that I want to play with. I've just recently moved to Houston, and began searching ads for lead guitar players. As soon as I heard End Result's music, I knew that I wanted to play with these guys. The music has integrity, and comes straight from the soul.

I grew up in Houston, and I have loved music ever since I was little kid. I think my parents have pictures of me in preschool grabbing sticks and things and pretending they were a guitar and playing them. I learned how to play guitar when I was 11, and ever since then I have been always making songs and coming up with ideas.

I played in bands in high school, where I also picked up percussion and a majority of theory. I'd spend all day making music. It didn't take very long for me to want to learn to play bass, as it is kind of an amalgamation of guitar theory and percussion.

I met Matt in Geology class, and we started talking about music. He told me they were looking for a bassist and invited me to jam with them one night. Turns out it's really fun playing with these guys.
